Statuette of Onuris (Inhert, Anhur). Bronze. Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, Dynasty XXV, (Nubian/Kushite). Height: 10.1cm without tang. Condition: Very fine though his attributes- a headdress of four long plumes, a spear or rope in his hands, and the cobra on his forehead, are missing. Onuris was a warrior god and a divine huntsman. His name means "He who brought back the distant one". In our example, his face reminds a lot that of Pharaoh Taharqa. |
