Burnt earthenware
Greek, ca. 4th century BC
H. 14cm; W. 8.3cm; D. 8.8cm
An unusual and attractive polychrome trefoil head vase of a young satyr; the head is decorated with an ivy and corymb crown.
Condition: Reverse side completed from original fragments. A TL test was negative but considering that, the museum where it was kept was bombed and completely burnt down during WWI explains the lack of reliable data.
Provenance: ex. Collection Louis-Gabriel Bellon, France, (1819 – 1899)
Item reference: CL1028
