Important faience amulet of the Egyptian god Sobek in form of a crocodile. In Egyptian mythology, Sobek was the god of the river and swamp mainly worshiped in Faiyum. He also appears as a human with a crocodile face. He is present since the Old Kingdom times and is associated with fertility, military and pharaonic power. As an amulet he served as protection from the Nile dangers and had apotropaic power. Very finely carved.
